Uganda Rural Community Support Foundation (URCSF) was founded to focus on community interventions; one of the fundamental principles is to create autonomy and self-confidence among the communities and groups with whom we work.
Uganda Rural Community Support Foundation is accountable to the donors and beneficiaries and progressively builds on its good reputation in rural development to eradicate poverty working in line with the UN millennium goals and those of the government of Uganda development strategic plan, set to support the people of Uganda for a better and just world.
URCSF focus on alleviating suffering and poverty by helping people build secure, productive and just communities. We believe in the intrinsic value and dignity of human life, as well as the strength of human resilience, and the ability of people to thrive.
This necessarily involve strengthening the communities’ internal social networks, and increasing local capacity to intervene in the environment where people live and to participate actively in defining their future, and in undertaking the changes necessary to improve their living conditions by:
- providing basic health care, especially community–based initiatives,
- increasing access to safe clean water,
- hygiene education and improved sanitation facilities,
- prevention of HIV/AIDS,
- food security and nutrition enhancement,
- environmental protection and advocacy,
- human rights advocacy, and
- educating orphaned children in the rural communities of Uganda.
